What happens at Spring Break really does stay at Spring Break! Miley Cyrus‘ sister Brandi Cyrus spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about the singer’s relationship with Patrick Schwarzenegger on Tuesday, April 7. She gushed about the great couple and how Arnold Schwarzenegger’s eldest son fits perfectly into Miley’s hectic world.
“I think she met him through her mutual friend, but we’ve hung out with him a ton since. He’s been great. He’s such a nice guy. He’s easy to hang out with and be around. He has great friends. He’s a good dude,” Brandi, 27, told Us at the Popular Magazine Sofia Richie Cover Celebration event in L.A. hosted by Wildfox. “I like that they balance each other out. Miley is like a big personality, high energy, and he’s super laid-back and easygoing. And they are a good team.”
Brandi’s sweet comments come weeks after Schwarzenegger, 21, was caught getting awfully close with a female friend in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico last month. Miley, 22, briefly iced him out after the embarrassing episode, but eventually took him back after he apologized. The lovebirds have been spotted out together since, but even Brandi has a tough time explaining their status.
“As far as I know yes, [they’re doing okay],” the Popular TV host told Us. “But you know you never know. Things change every day with everybody. It’s hard to keep up.”
According to Brandi, it’s also difficult to have a relationship in the public eye. “He comes from a big family too. He’s got a sister and I think he fits in so well because he kind of comes from the same life we did,” she explained of Schwarzenegger, son of Arnold and Maria Shriver. “He has a famous dad and stuff. I mean he gets it.” (Schwarzenegger is also the grandson of Eunice Shriver, sister of the late John F. Kennedy.)
Us broke news in November 2014 that the “Wrecking Ball” singer and Schwarzenegger were dating, the same year Cyrus was focusing on her North America Bangerz tour. But now, Brandi says the singer is taking “some down time,” which gives the siblings more time to bond — over clothes!
“I kind of go to her and I’ll borrow stuff out of her closet. If I’m going to go see a guy I have a crush on, I go straight to her and I’m like, ‘Give me something good to wear,'” Brandi joked to Us. “We grew up going to the mall together and borrowing each other’s clothes. We both have a very different style, but the pieces go together. I can borrow her stuff and she can borrow mine and we can still mix and match and influence each other, which is really cool.”
As for whether Miley has an “impress a boy” outfit? “Oh yeah,” Brandi admitted, “she sure does!”
