Brittany Murphy's Family: "She Was A Shining Star"

Following Sunday's death of Brittany Murphy at age 32 and a whirlwind of headlines, the actress's family has released a new statement to UsMagazine.com:
"The sudden loss of our beloved Brittany is a terrible tragedy. She was our daughter, our wife, our love and a shining star. We ask you to respect our privacy at this time."
Funeral arrangements are pending.
After being rushed by paramedics from the L.A. home she shared with husband Simon Monjack, the star (Clueless, 8 Mile) was pronounced dead at L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at 10:04 a.m. Sunday.
The L.A. County Coroner's Office plans to perform an autopsy in the next coming days.

Rest in Peace Brittany I will miss you as an actress you were a very beautiful woman and talented. I have always loved all of your films and you were a rare person and I hope peace can come to you and all people who did not get the chance to see the person inside out I feel sorry for all of you and I WISH I would of gotten to get the chance to meet you in person. RIP. I also lost a cousin who was only 30 yrs. old on Dec. 3 to natural causes and as hard as it is to accept it is not impossible so all of you people who does not have anything better to do than say drug overdose just because they have the miss fortune to die at an early age just bug off and let the family grieve in peace. Britney was such a funny actress. I love all her movies. She was very talented, beautiful and you can tell full of life. My prayers go out to her family and friends during this hard time. RIP god bless

Such sad news about such a lovely and talented young woman. She had become so skeletally thin that it makes you wonder whether she was anorexic or bulimic. That can cause heart failure. I believe that's what eventually killed Karen Carpenter.
My prayers go out to her family & friends. I agree with Cheryl Shuman, I think that people need to re-frame from nasty comments. It is not appropriate and It's just so unbelievable now nasty and hateful that people are! I think people need to learn some new words such as; NICE, EMPATHY, KINDNESS, and RESPECT.

I just found out about this a few moments ago and I have an ache in my stomach because this is such sad news. My heart goes out to her husband and family -- how sad at this holiday time to have such a terrible loss of a beautiful radiant talented and loving youg woman. I can't even imagine how this must jar their sense of faminly and all the future they thought they had ahead with Brittany in it. This is such a tragedy. At times like this, sometimes it's helpful to be grateful that the person was in our lives, although for too short a time. Be happy she was here on earth and you enjoyed her work or she was a dear part of the family. She is like a butterfly who touched so many people, but she has flown away. Be happy you knew her or knew of her, grieve, but things will get better for her family/friends as time goes on. Celebrate her life and try to put things in perspective -- she wouldn't want her friends/family/fans to be sad for too long nor for this to ruin their holiday for years to come. This teaches us that life is too short and often we have no idea what our future holds - live life to the fullest and enjoy as much as you can. Tell people how much they mean to you and what an important part of your life they are. So long, Brittany... your legacy lives on.
You don't need a phD to figure out that she was troubled and her husband was a shady character. Let this be a lesson to many who are abusing prescription drugs. Let's get help before it's too late. She was way too young and my heart goes out to her friends and family.
katy, blame her family's need to release a second statement on media outlets like tmz and perezhilton. Days before Brittney passed, perez spent it trashing her and now he's written a story without any proof I may add saying she was on drugs. He's such a paracite, I wish someone would shut him down.

wake up Hollywood- did you see recent photos of this young woman- she looked to be 100 lbs and so thin- thinner than her days in Clueless and at 32 it was such strain on her heart and lungs and organs- Hell, her hubby is a really big guy- couldn't he tell she was thinning out?????????? Bet she died from starvation, anerexia, water pills, diet pills, laxatives....... so so sad. She had to be feeling lousy for some time.....

While I am saddened at the loss of this beautiful actress, I just wanted to ask why the family felt the need to issue an additional statement after their first one asked the media to respect their privacy. You don't get privacy if you are constantly talking to the media. For her family's sake, I hope they get the privacy they ask for and deserve. It's not easy to lose someone you love, especially close to the holidays. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Why are people so quick to make negative comments after someone passes? Who cares? You are all not there and will NEVER have any proof to your gross comments so why not show some compassion and respect....whether it's Brittany or DJ AM or Heath...their families have to go through enough with their loss....do they really have to be subjected to your assanine comments?I'll be sure to have your family subjected to the same BS when it's YOUR time!
