The cause of Whitney Houston's death remains under investigation -- but according to Celine Dion, this case is already closed.
Speaking via phone on Monday's Good Morning America (she called the late icon "an amazing inspiration") the "My Heart Will Go On" singer didn't mince words looking back on Houston's legendary career and troubled later life.

"It's just really unfortunate that drugs, bad people, bad influences took over her dreams, her motherhood," the French-Canadian star, 43, said of Houston, who famously fessed up in a 2002 interview with Diane Sawyer about using cocaine, marijuana and pills. "When you think about Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson . . . To get into drugs like that for whatever reason--because of stress, bad influence, whatever."

Dion lamented that her immensely talented idol, who left behind daughter Bobbi Kristina, apparently succumbed like other superstars before her. "What happens when you have everything? Love, support, motherhood…Something happens that I don't understand. That's why I'm scared of show business, of drugs and hanging out. That's why I don't go to parties!"

Tell Us: Did Dion speak out of turn?

97I am sick and tired of Bobby Brown being turned into a villain for what a grown (older than Him) woman chose to do. For the record, Bobby is remarried with a new child and was in no way involved with Whitney's untimely demise. Let it go
It’s hard to believe that my budd?'s step-?unt makes $79 hourly on the int?rnet. Sh? has been without work for 5 months but l?st month her ch?ck w?s $7802 simply working on the int?rnet a few hours d?y. Visit this site for mor?... MakeCash17.cøm
She absolutely spoke out of turn. There has not been a formal statement about what Whitney died of and her condemnation is ignorant. Taking prescription tranquilizers does not mean she fell back into drugs. Being sweaty while being at a party does not mean you are a mess. Having blood on your leg means you probably fell. What is all the drama??? Disgusting.
I do believe that Celine's timing with her comment was a bit off but then again she is famous for putting her foot in her mouth during interviews. We are all aware that Whitney had a substance abuse problem, however, Celine's comment could have waited until the dust has settled. Very crass indeed.
She did do drugs so what is the problem.
No, she did not speak out of line. There is nothing wrong with telling the truth. I agree with every word she spoke. Living a clean life involves letting go of anything getting in your way. I believe Whiteny Houston was a terrifically talented woman, beautiful, smart, loving and warm, but had difficulty letting go of many bad habits. Also, I do not believe Bobby Brown ruined Whitney's life.
I think Celine was jealous because she is not nor will eve be known as "The Voice" and what she said was disrespectful to a deceased person. Why say those things now? She could've said that while she lived. No she waits until she is dead and then trashes her. There was no love in her statements, only accusations which are pointless now. Get over it Celine, you suck!
IT is abvious that everyone that dislike Celine 's opinion ....it;s in denia lof the truth...DRUGS....she probably had a heart failure ...consecuinces drugs and alcohol.......Lets not forget the life she lived ...and the fact that she got the talent glorifing GOD and she forgot all about that .and her mother beged her to quit drugs . My prayers for Kristina and her grandmother ...and BOBY Brown you are a scumbag you destroyed an angel on earth with your life style.Celine tell it as it is ,!!! if you save one soul.... it's worth the bashing.Whitney you are at peace ... no more suffering...
I think Celine was right on the money and just saying what others are thinking. Most of us know drugs (whether street or prescribed) put Whitney on a downward spiral. Drugs most certainly took a toll on her lovely singing voice (hence terrible reviews from her concerts last year) and more than likely her cause of death is going to be prescription drugs which is just as bad as the street stuff...WORSE in my opinion b/c it's legal so people greatly underestimate the deadliness of them. The only part I disagree with Celine about is influences in your life b/c while I realize people around us do influence us-I feel ultimately we make choices as to what we do or don't do..bottom line, Bobby or no one else held a gun to her head and made her do drugs.
The days before her death she was partying pretty hard and what I do not understand is people that called themselves her friend brag about it, about drinking, laughing and on and on. Yet they knew she had struggled with drinking and drugs and had been to rehab - why would a TRUE friend encourage a friend with problems to drink and fall back into old habits? I know it was Whitney's choice in the long run - but friends can help to stop certain behaviours instead of enabling.
I do not think Celine spoke out of turn, she is just telling, what a lot of people are thinking. I am thinking the same as Celine did, a pill for this and a pill for that and so on.
It is what it is. Substance abuse is a disease because if not suppressed it eventually leads to death. I cannot speculate about anything, because I wasn't there to see what took place, but one thing I am certain of, the world lost a very talented person & her daughter and mother lost a mother and a daughter. I feel for those closest to her, and wish them my most sincere condolences. Fame isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's hard to decipher who is and who isn't your friend. I no longer envy those in the spot light, but I do appreciate their phenomenal abilities. I'll always see Whitney as she was when I first heard "You Give Good Love". She was just lovely.
Celine spoke witha motherly heart what kind of mother will do stuff like that without thinking what could happen to your child, daughter leaving her behind with no onme I'm sorry it is a good time for judgement also for everyone that is in that situation, wake up America ........you bring children in this world to leave them suffer just for your FUN moments ,.THANK you CELINE you know how it feels.keep up GOOD singer and good WIFE and a good MOTHER >>>>BRAVO>>>>
Celine was on the point. How many more noted celebraties are doing the drug scene but not getting "caught" yet? It's hard to uderstand why anyone, I mean anyone, wants to destroy their life or career with something they certainly have control over. YOU are the master of your fate. We don't know what or why, just that we lost a beautiful and talented person at the young age of 48. I feel more for her daughter than anyone.
And, with all due honesty didnt Celine's husband have an addiction to gambling? Addiction comes in many shapes and forms.....we shouldnt be so quick to "cast someone ashore" when we have or could be swimming in the same boat...
I mean look at the recent stories of Demi Moore she is practically headed down the same road
Let's not try to interpret too much into what anyone says....we all have our personal demons...we conquer them or they conquer us.
I think some of what she said was true, but when she made a comment about Whitney's mother...she crossed the line! Whitney's mother adored her. That was so visible throughout the years, but the reality is a parent can't stop their GROWN child from doing anything. Celine was right about the parties I'm sure. Money makes anything accessible and when you have that level of success anything is at your disposal. You have to be stronger than the influences around you, but not everyone is. My heart goes out to her family because out of all the parents I know (myself included), no parent wants to have to bury their child. Her voice is unmatched, but her story is one we've heard time and time again - not just in Hollywood, but everyday America. Use it as a teachable moment with your children, nieces and nephews. Let them know that everyone that smiles in their face isn't their friend and it's so easy to get "caught up". One bad decision can have major consequences. Whitney was a human being like you or me. She was susceptible to the same pitfalls everyone else are. She shared her gift from God with the world and myself as a skinny girl of color from the mid-west thank the Lord I had an opportunity to experience that voice. She started her life raising that incredible voice to the Lord and that's ironically the final way that she did, so before we judge lets think of the pitfalls and circumstances we have had to overcome in our lives. Some made it through successfully and some couldn't and unfortunately she was one of them. "But through the grace of God go I" Rest In Peace sister in Christ, Whitney Houston.
I am glad that she had the nerve to s ay that. . .natural and wise statement. . .
i don't think Celine said anything out of turn. Drugs and show biz kiiled Whitney. what is offensive about that? Whitney did drugs and drank alcohol, there is no secret about that. It is what it is. Maybe she will be a peace now.
