Confirmed! Nikki Reed, Paul McDonald Engaged

Paul McDonald didn't nab the American Idol crown, but he's definitely having a good year. After less than two months of dating, he and Twilight actress Nikki Reed are engaged, a source confirms to Us Weekly. (E! News was first to break the news of the engagement Sunday night.)

Reed, 23, flashed what appeared to be an engagement ring at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, and gushed to E! of McDonald, 26: "He's the one. He's the one."

McDonald told Us about his brand-new romance with the star in mid-April, immediately following his elimination from Idol.

"[Nikki's] supercool," the singer said. "She's been real supportive of this whole thing. She's actually pumped up now because she likes my original material way better than all the stuff I do on the show."

He admitted that their instant connection was "weird," particularly since he's not a Twi-hard at all.

"I haven't ever actually watched any of her movies. I don't know too much of her career at all, but the person she is is super cool."

And, just two weeks ago, Us Weekly also broke news that the twosome were already living together in Reed's L.A. home; Reed (who briefly dated Twilight costar Rob Pattinson) has been trying to help her man land a record deal.

Why the rush to the altar?

"Nikki does want to settle down," another pal tells Us. "[She] is very spontaneous."

I worked with a guy in my first job who's parents knew each other 5 weeks and got married. They had 6 kids and were married until his Mom passed away. You know "the one" pretty early on.
