Derek Hough has a five-year plan. The Dancing With the Stars pro, 31, admitted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday, November 30, that he’s hoping to settle down in the very near future.
“I’m kind of in a place now in my life, kind of a transition,” Hough told the talk show host, 58. “Yeah, I see myself married with kids within the next five years.”
The Hairspray Live star might still have marriage on the brain since serving as best man at DWTS costar Mark Ballas’ wedding to BC Jean November 25 in Malibu. Though Hough says he’d “never been more nervous” than when filling the position for his childhood friend, he had plenty of time to prepare.
“He asked me 17 years ago to be his best man,” Hough explained of longtime pal Ballas. “We were 14 years old, so there’s a lot of pressure actually. Luckily it went well.”
Asked whether he’s romantically involved right now, the Taking the Lead author — who’s been quietly dating fellow DWTS dancer Hayley Erbert for over a year —played coy. “Perhaps, maybe I am,” he replied.
Hough’s focus this Thanksgiving was on family, though, which includes younger sister Julianne Hough. “I have a big family, a lot of sisters,” explained Hough, one of five siblings — the only boy among them. “There’s a lot of estrogen in my family, and when people come visit, it’s like this beautiful hurricane. They’re running around dancing, being crazy. They’re the best, I love them to death.”
In fact, his large family could be what’s giving him baby fever. Hough joked with DeGeneres, “Every time I go visit them, there’s two new babies running around.”
