Royal mothers, they’re just like Us! Duchess Kate spoke candidly about her daughter, Princess Charlotte, during a National Service of Thanksgiving event held in honor of the queen’s 90th birthday on Friday, June 10.
When fellow mom Glynis Double complimented the mother of two, 34, on her adorable little girl, the duchess made a surprising quip about Charlotte, 13 months.
“She said, ‘Oh, she is very cute, but she has got quite a feisty side,’” Double said of their conversation. “I then asked her about George and she said he was a really lovely little boy. She said she hopes that George will keep Charlotte in order!”
Princess Charlotte made her first public appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace one day later, on Saturday, June 11, alongside the rest of the royal family (including George!).
The tiny tot wore a pale pink dress with a matching bow pinning back her hair. George, 2, waved at the gathered crowds as he hung close to the duchess and dad Prince William.
Double added that the duchess was very gracious at the event on Friday, asking if she and her husband, who had helped to organize the reception “had enough to eat.”
“I told her we hadn’t stopped since we arrived!” she said. “As my husband has been involved in organizing the event, I really couldn’t be prouder. What a fabulous day.”
The weekend’s festivities were capped off with a huge street party hosted by the queen herself on Sunday, June 12. Some 10,000 people were expected to take part, and the monarch was joined by William, Kate and Prince Harry.
