Fred Willard Fired From PBS Show Market Warriors Following Arrest
PBS execs aren't taking too kindly to the news of Fred Willard's arrest.
The 72-year-old comic actor -- known for his roles in Christopher Guest's ensemble comedies as well as Anchorman, Wall-E and Modern Family -- was taken into police custody Wednesday evening after he allegedly "engaged in a lewd act" at an adult movie theater in Hollywood.
A spokeswoman for WGBH, the Boston channel that puts out Market Warriors, tells The New York Times Willard has been axed from his gig as host of the Antiques Roadshow spinoff "effective immediately."
"Fred Willard will no longer be involved with the 'Market Warriors' series," spokeswoman Jeanne Hopkins writes.
Those in charge of programming decisions are supposedly working on updating the show, and cutting out Willard entirely from unaired episodes; The Times reports Mark Walberg, who hosts Antiques Roadshow, will re-voice those episodes.
