More unsettling developments have surfaced regarding the tragic Germanwings plane crash in the French Alps. In a new interview, co-pilot Andreas Lubitz's ex-girlfriend is claiming that he once said he was "planning a heinous act that will be remembered forever." Earlier this week, it was reported that Lubitz deliberately destroyed the aircraft after locking the pilot out of the cockpit.

Maria W, a Germanwings stewardess, told the shocking revelation to a German newspaper. "[He said], 'One day I will do something that will change the whole system, and then all will know my name and remember it,'" she recalled, via Daily Mail. "I never knew what he meant, but now it makes sense."

Lubitz and the stewardess dated for five months last year and spent much of their time in hotels. She told the newspaper that he was a "nice and open-minded" person, but would often become annoyed when they talked about their jobs.

"We spoke a lot about work and then he became another person. He became agitated about the circumstances in which he had to work, too little money, anxiety about his contract and too much pressure," she claimed. "During conversations he'd suddenly throw a tantrum and scream at me. I was afraid. He even once locked me in the bathroom for a long time."

Maria W. said she split with Lubitz because of his behavior, but he reportedly did try to win her back by buying two Audis just days before the crash. Other separate reports say he was secretly gay and tormented for keeping his homosexuality a secret.

Following the crash on Tuesday, which killed all 142 passengers and six crew members, French officials searched Lubitz's home. They found medical notes, learning that he didn't tell the airline about his depression.

"The torn up sick notes make sense now to me and were a clear sign that he did not want to admit that his big dream of flying as a captain was over," Maria W told the newspaper. She added that he never told her of any illness, but did claim that he was getting psychiatric treatment.
