Giuliana Rancic is leaving her post as E! News anchor, the network has confirmed in a statement to Us Weekly.
The 40-year-old mom-of-one will continue as a co-host of Fashion Police and Live From the Red Carpet but from Monday, Aug. 10, she will no longer be seen on a daily basis as anchor of the popular celebrity TV news show.
"For more than a decade, I was fortunate enough to play a role in the success of E! News and will miss my family at the show,” Rancic said in the statement. “At the same time, I am excited to not only continue as host of two major franchises on E! but also executive produce the aspirational new show Rich in Faith for Oxygen as well as take my wine and clothing lines to the next level. This is such a thrilling time for me and I thank the gang at E! for understanding my desire to embark on this next chapter in my life," she added.
It's been quite a year for Rancic who hit the headlines in a major way this past February for her controversial comments about Zendaya's dreadlocks during a post-Oscar's Fashion Police.
The host said Zendaya looked like she smelled of "weed" and "patchouli" — comments that were taken by many to be racially insensitive, and led to a bitter public feud with Fashion Police then-co-host Kelly Osbourne. Osbourne subsequently quit the show, and the program was temporarily taken off air.
She has also faced wide-spread criticism for her skinny frame, a topic which she addressed a couple of months ago on The Dr. Oz Show. "Trust me, I don't want to lose weight," the slender E! presenter told the doctor, explaining the cause of her extreme weight loss is her cancer medication, Tamoxifen. "I don't think it looks attractive. I think I used to be more attractive. But I'm doing the best I can."
Last month, Rancic expressed her excitement about working with newly-announced co-host Melissa Rivers on the soon-to-be-relaunched Fashion Police which will return in August.
“I adore Melissa,” Rancic gushed to Us. “I’ve known Melissa forever, we talk all the time, we text all the time. No one knows the show as well as Melissa. I think it's an exciting time for Fashion Police. I like that there's a familiarity there, and we all know each other so well, it's a lot harder to welcome a new person in because you have to get to know them and their timing," she said.
