Jake Gyllenhaal jokingly told Ellen DeGeneres that he likes to take all of his dates to his mom's house (just like Taylor Swift suggested in her song "All Too Well")

If you wanna be his lover, you gotta get with his mom. Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't have a special someone at the moment, but if and when he does, she won't have to wait long, if at all, to meet the parents.

During a chat with Ellen DeGeneres on Monday, April 27, the Southpaw star joked that his favorite first-date spot isn't some fancy restaurant or velvet-roped club but — wait for it — his mom's place.

"One thing I always do is I always bring my dates to my mother's house for the first date," the 34-year-old hunk deadpanned. "I think that's a good move."

He went on to explain that his mom, screenwriter Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal, has been wanting to set him up. "My mother…thinks arranged marriages actually might be able to work, you know what I mean? Like, in a good way," he told DeGeneres. "She thinks if she picked for me, that I'd do a lot better."

And he doesn't necessarily disagree. Asked whether he'd be open to a little matchmaking scheme, the Nightcrawler star said, "Absolutely, I would trust my mother." (Aw!)

In fact, Gyllenhaal's ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift mentioned meeting his mom (and eyeing an embarrassing family photo album on the counter) in her 2012 song "All Too Well." In it, she sang: "And your mother's telling stories about you on a tee-ball team / You told me 'bout your past thinking your future was me." (A source previously confirmed to Us Weekly that Swift wrote the tune about her short-lived 2010 romance with the actor.)

Unbeknownst to many fans, Gyllenhaal has a musical past of his own, which he revealed to DeGeneres during their chat on Monday. "I was in a really, really bad band when I was in high school," he said. "The name of the band was called Whole Shot…That's one good-looking band right there," he added when the talk-show host put up a photo of the star with his bandmates.

"It was rock music, I guess," he said a little sheepishly. "We wrote our own music. I was just a lyricist, so I just wrote the lyrics."
