An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Too much daily soy milk, on the other hand, leads to man boobs.

See Jeremy Piven before and after!

So says nutritionally-challenged Jeremy Piven.

The Entourage actor has sworn off the healthful dairy milk substitute -- he chugged 12 cups a day -- because of an unflattering side effect, reports the Huffington Post.

"I was the guy that dabbled in soy milk, but now I've found out soy milk has enough estrogen for me to grow breasts," the Emmy winner explained. "I had to put the soy milk down. It was a very confusing time."

Earlier this year, he bowed out of a Broadway play crying mercury poisoning. The cause? He says he ate sushi twice a day for 20 years.

Cow's Milk is design for cows. If you drink too much of it perhaps you will turn into a cow! Oh noes!

soybean production is controlled by Monsanto Corporation due to patented seeds. And gynecomastia - male breast development is usually benign so its not harmful but there are published instances of male breast development with ingestion of large amounts of soy milk. And anyone who has high breast cancer risk, is normally advised to avoid eating soy.

If one is worried with getting too many hormones, lay off the animal milk. Soy is a legume with plenty of nutrition, not a toxin. Someone show me one conclusive peer reviewed study that shows soy is harmful to humans (and not just labratory animals in controlled experiments).

Wow, this is so ignorant. Phytoestrogens found in soy is not the same as estrogen. Read a book, people! And be weary of anti-soy/anti-vegetarian groups like Winston A Price Foundation that spread this crap.

    IDIOT!

BTW, Sunny71, the phytoestrogens in soy won't make your boobs grow. men have a lot less estrogen in their blood than women do, so if a man eats a lot of soy, it would have a greater effect on his moobs than on a woman's breasts. Piven isn't simply making things up. you can also get high levels of Hg by eating a lot of sushi. another thing the soy companies won't tell you is that they process the hell out of soy protein to get rid of the beany taste and this changes the structure of the soy protein. so we're not even eating the same soy that the Japanese and Chinese eat (significant because soy companies tout the good health of Japanese and Chinese and point to their soy consumption as the reason). Vegans really need to read about the dangers of soy before loading up on it.

  • November 04, 2009 - 12:38pm Gina

Consumption of soy products has been linked to thyroid dysfunction, bowel gas, immune disorders, cognitive decline, cancer and fertility problems, to name a few. Phytoestrogens in soy can mimic estrogen and that maybe the cause of his moobs, especially since he was drinking so much soy milk. People in Japan and China have NEVER consumed soy in the quantities Americans currently do. We use so much of it because we believe the false advertising of companies selling this shit.

Danielle: I hear ya'! I just find it odd at what this loser comes up withjust to get his name in a mag? I am vegan by the way and live off tofu and soy milk, now if only the soy I eat and drink could make my A-cups grow??

Are you sure you didn`t grow breasts perhaps, because of smoking pot?

  • November 04, 2009 - 10:10am Melanie

does this guy have an eating disorder? why does he consume massive amounts of a particular food?? First raw fish...and now TWELVE cups of soy milk per day???

  • November 04, 2009 - 10:05am TinyPackage

what next?? Not enough cucumbers and that is why he is "small"??

Sunny71 Says: Here we go again.... So the Piv grew some "moobs", is this guy starved for attention or what? Is this really newsworthy? ------------------------ It is in a way cuz I had no idea soybeans contain "phytoestrogens", a plant form of estrogen. This is interesting stuff because many vegetarians eat lots of soy and tofu to avoid beef and beef products. This guy drank 12 cups of soymilk a day..which is a bit much. He wouldn't have "grown breasts" if he would've drank in moderation. ANYTHING in excess is not good anyway.

  • November 04, 2009 - 9:42am Danielle

ROFL!!! The only thing that causes a man to grow LARGE breasts (cuz men do have breasts), is the female hormone estrogen. Soy milk is produced from SOY, which is a plant. Either he is taking synthetic estrogen, or something is medically wrong with him such as a pituitary tumor inhibiting testosterone synthesis, or some malignancy producing estrogen.

  • November 04, 2009 - 9:35am Kit

The human body does NOT need "milk" of any kind....adults AND children should lay off the stuff....you can get your calcium elsewhere. In fact, the proteins in milk (whey and casein) are very difficult to digest and ultimately can cause more harm than good.

  • November 04, 2009 - 9:01am kacy

All he can do is say outrageous things? You CAN get high mercury levels from eating too much sushi. Why do you think pregnant women are advised against it??? Because the high levels are dangerous for her baby!! He was making a joke about the soy milk growing a breast. And wasn't that was funny? But he's not joking about soy containing phytoestrogens which make cause hormonal imbalance and may even be linked to hormonal cancers. Many doctors warn their breast cancer patients not to consume soy.

Just hope he stays away from carrots....

  • November 03, 2009 - 10:51pm Lauren

Jeremy Piven is beyond desperate to stay relevant at this point... his career is in the crapper, so all he can do is say outrageous things to the press in order to make the news.

  • November 03, 2009 - 9:55pm candace chavez

like milk is any friggin better!! all the hormones & crapthey throw in it, we dont even need milk!! milk is designed to grow a baby calf into a 4000 pound cow in 2 years!! no wonder america is full of fat a** people!!
