Joe Jonas tells Us Weekly he feels "relieved after releasing his tell-all essay in New York magazine, and Demi Lovato tells Us she's not mad at Jonas for writing about her drug abuse.

Joe Jonas has no regrets. The 24-year-old former Jonas Brothers singer doesn't seem to be suffering from any backlash following his shocking tell-all essay (as told to Jennifer Vinegard) in the Dec. 9 issue of New York magazine. At a celebration event for NYLON magazine's December issue in West Hollywood on Thursday, Dec. 5, the middle Jonas brother opened up to Us Weekly about he feels now that his article is out.

"I feel really relieved actually," he shared. "I was very nervous releasing it. I hit kind of an anxiety wall where I was like, 'S–t am I about to do this? This is kind of nerve-wracking.' But then you just look at it on a different scale. You're like, 'This is my life and this is my story for myself to tell whoever is interested and let them inside the crazy life I've lived!'"

Jonas didn't hold back in his recent essay about his precocious rise to fame and its tricky aftermath. The New Jersey native included details about Jonas Brothers band members and siblings Kevin, 26, and Nick, 21, including their blowup fights about the band and pact to wait until marriage to have sex.

Before the article went to print, Jonas said he warned his family. "I think it's sensitive for someone so close to you to release," he explained to Us. "I wanted to make sure I spoke to them ahead of time and give them a heads-up that this is coming out. They had a very cool reaction to it. My brother Nick was like, 'Hey dude, it's your interview.' That kind of speaks for itself. I felt really good about releasing it."

In addition to revealing details about his relationship with his brothers, Jonas also shared insight into his past relationship with fellow former Disney star Demi Lovato. In the article, the Camp Rock star said Lovato, 21, struggled with drug abuse while they were together.

Now that the story is out, is Jonas still friends with Lovato? "Yeah absolutely!" he told Us. "I saw her yesterday. Demi and I are good friends and we have been friends for years."

At the same NYLON magazine event, Us chatted with Lovato to find out what she thought about Jonas' article. (McDonald's kicked off its 'One Hot Holiday' Instant Win Promotion with Xbox One at the NYLON Magazine December/January issue celebration hosted by cover star Lovato.)

"I want to commend him for how brave he was. He never was able to share his side of the story, he kept it really quiet. I was going through my stuff, and he got blamed for a lot of it," she told Us. "When in reality, I have my stuff and we argue like brother and sister now. It's like, 'Dude, what were you thinking?' But it's all good. I was like, Don't be embarrassed or whatever. I still love you. We're still family. It's all good.'"
