Bah humbug!

With Christmas just one week away, Justin Bieber isn't planning to head to bed early Dec. 24 to await the arrival of Santa Claus. In fact, the teen pop phenom says he's never believed in the man in the big red suit!

"My mom always told me there wasn't a Santa," Bieber says in a new interview with AOL Music. "This was her logic: She thought if I grew up knowing about Santa then finding out he wasn't real, that it would be like she was lying to me. And then when she told me about God, I maybe wouldn't believe her."

Applauding his mom, Pattie Mallette, and her decision to be "straight-up and honest with me all the time," Bieber insists he kept the holiday spirit alive for his childhood pals. "I didn't tell my friends or ruin it for anyone -- I was a good kid!" he tells AOL.

Instead of opening presents from Santa under the tree, Bieber and his family opted for a unique gift exchange.

"We played a game on Christmas Day where everyone brought a girl gift and a boy gift. You roll the dice and if you get doubles, you get to pick a present and if you don't, it's the next person's turn. Then, the next time you roll doubles you get to choose someone else's present and switch," he explains. "One time I really wanted a Game Boy but I ended up with pots and pans, which was disappointing. I think I gave them to my mom."

This year, Bieber will return to his native Canada to enjoy Christmas Eve dinner with his mother's relatives, and then head to his dad's house on Christmas Day to spend time with his younger brother and sister.

Asked about his Christmas wish list, Bieber -- who dates Selena Gomez -- isn't picky.

"To be honest, I really don't have any Christmas wishes this year... I just wish to be happy and that everyone be healthy in my family," he says. "And I wish that everybody gets to hear my Christmas album -- and hopefully like it!"

Amanda, where on earth did you get your image of God from?? Also, I don't know why people have to turn this into a "God" thing..and it's funny that it's the ones that DON'T believe in God that just HAVE to put it out there. Whatever. I do think it's sad he didn't believe in Santa. I think Christmas was so much more magical when I did. And it didn't confuse me at all...I still knew the reason for Christmas was the birth of Jesus...they were two separate things for me. I also knew Jesus had nothing to do with presents. I think it's FUN to believe is Santa when you are little and I never met anyone who felt betrayed or lied to when they found out it wasn't real...

Kyriakos - How many 10-12 year olds do you know that still believe in Santa Claus?! Most kids find out way younger. I don't think I want to tell my kids about Santa. It's kind of terrible. I remember finding out at school and I was DEVASTATED!

You don't get it?????Justin's Mom has a right to her opinion. JB ALSO has a right to his opinion. Kids shouldn't looking to JB as a role model. That puts a lot of pressure on people. Parents should be their children's role model not entertainers? Yes, Entertainer's can influence a person but they should not have to be held accountable to be a role model for someone's else's child. He is an entertainer and if His mother decided to tell him that there is no santa clause , so what! Why would telling the world in an interview about not believing in Santa Claus ruin it for other people????? Everyone is entitle to their opinion. Stop hating! Get into the spirit of acceptance of differences of opinion and diversity!!!

JESUS is the Reason! I like what his mom did. It's a personal choice and I like that Justin isn't ashamed to proclaim it. It's positive news from him instead of the trash that has been going around lately. I pray for role models for my children that have Christ as center. That you Justin B, Carrie Underwood, (Maybe Taylor). Sadly, I can't think of any others. ;-(

I don't believe that JB had the need to voice this! Many children actually kids of all ages look up to JB as my girls do. Ages 10 & 12 at the present. This is not what they want to hear when they truly believe in Santa. Disappointing that you would write an article about this topic. You should have just kept it quiet! I quote you from your article" Bieber insists he kept the holiday spirit alive for his childhood pals. "I didn't tell my friends or ruin it for anyone -- I was a good kid!" he tells AOL. THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU TRYING TO RUIN OTHER'S X-MAS SPIRIT AND BELIEFS ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU KNOW YOU HAVE SO MANY FOLLOWERS?!?! JUST DON'T GET IT!

That would explain why he's so screwed up in the head...loser!

Christmas is NOT about Santa.... GEESH! Christmas is SUPPOSED to commemorate the birth of Jesus Chirst... who IS real, by the way. I knew children when I was in third grade who came to school CRYING when they found out that Santa wasn't real. They began to question about what else their parents could have lied. I think his mother was smart.

Part of the reason I chose to do this was I never really loved the idea of Santa when I was a kid. So that my sisters and I would not ask for extravagant gifts my mom would tell us they sent money to Santa each year for our presents. I always thought he was a glorified personal shopper and never really was into the idea of Santa myself.

That's why I read all these articles. Just makes me appreciate everything in my life more!!

  • December 18, 2011 - 8:50pm Gretchen Cutright Jones

Yeah I do the same thing for pretty much the same reason. Don't get me wrong we visited Santa (as evident of the pic) and we have fun with the idea of Santa but she knows the real reason for the season and knows her gifts come from mom and dad. Santa is as real as Mickey Mouse in our house, fun make believe.

she is lying to him...he has no talent...and she says he does... knowing about Satna Claus would have been better

  • December 18, 2011 - 8:14pm Sandra Gallagher

No one ever grows up feeling betrayed that they believed in Santa. That is a ridiculous thing for Patty to do and a warped justification of it, I believe in God and Santa.

@TimTomlinson That was a moronic statement in it's entirety.
