Kanye West: The Kardashians Should Have “Plenty of Emmys by Now” Because KUWTK Is Art

Kanye West thinks that his wife, Kim Kardashian, and her family are worthy of an Emmy win. According to the rapper, the Kardashian-Jenner family’s highly popular reality series, Keeeping Up With the Kardashians, is art.

“I feel proud to be in a family that has, you know, so many people breaking ground for the generations to come,” West, 38, said during a recent interview with SHOWstudio, adding that KUWTK is “so f—king new of an art form,” that “my wife and my family should’ve had plenty of Emmys by now.”

In Yeezy’s mind, however, reality stars aren’t accepted by the entertainment industry.kanye

“Reality shows are considered to be like rap was when the Mondrian [hotel] wouldn’t let Run DMC and motherf—king Will Smith stay there because they were rappers,” he continued, adding that he can’t grasp “the idea of a reality star not being allowed into a fashion show or not being nominated for their show, even if it’s the longest-running and the most popular [show].”

“Everybody I know watches it,” West, who has appeared in numerous episodes of the E! show, added.

The reality show, which is produced by Ryan Seacrest, has been on the air since 2007 and has been recognized repeatedly by the Teen Choice Awards. KUWTK has generated multiple spin-offs, including Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Khloé & Lamar, and Kourtney and Khloé Take The Hamptons, as well as the network’s newest series Dash Dolls, which premiered last month.

During a recent Season 10 episode of KUWTK, West was shown trying to explain to the cameramen how to frame the shot. In November 2013, West revealed during an interview with Hot 97 that he previously chose to not appear on the show because he didn’t “particularly like the way the producers [filmed] some of the shots.”

“When we got engaged, I made sure the show was there [filming] because I felt like that was something that would make [Kim] happy,” he explained of his change of heart in 2013. “Regardless of how it was shot, I felt like this is a moment she would like to have and would like to share, and just have that documented. And we could decide later or not to air it.”
