The Kardashians are taking on diabetes. When Rob Kardashian was hospitalized and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes — “Because of his weight gain,” says a source — over the weekend of December 27, the 28-year-old vowed to overhaul his habits, a family insider reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.

“He agreed he will do follow-up doctors’ appointments and he’s taking medication to control his blood sugar,” the insider says of the 5-foot-10 Arthur George sock designer, who’s gained 100 pounds in the last three years.

But in the days since his diagnosis, his family — including mom Kris Jenner and sisters Kourtney, Kim and Khloé Kardashian — have been underwhelmed by his efforts, says the insider: “They’re concerned he’s not taking the situation seriously.”

Now, says a Rob pal, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars are considering drastic action. “They’re planning on doing an intervention with him,” says the friend. “He’s detached himself from everyone. Nobody knows what’s going on with him until it’s too late."

And this won’t be the brood’s first stab at an intervention. On an April episode of the family’s E! hit, Kris, 60, Kourtney, 36, and Kim, 35, devised a plan to get Rob in-home medical treatment. As a desperate Kris explained on the show at the time, “I feel like if I don’t help him do something drastic that he’s going to die."
