Katy Perry, John Mayer Break Up: "They've Been Fighting"
These Legendary Lovers are taking yet another break. Katy Perry has broken up with on-again, off-again love John Mayer, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly. The musical couple first went public back in summer 2012 and, after a short break that fall, have been together -- and seemingly closer, ever since. Perry, 29, and Mayer, 36, even released an ultra-romantic song and video together, "Who You Love" last December. After a romantic Grammys after-party outing in January (complete with Perry's family), the pair were even the subject of false engagement rumors over Valentine's Day. But Perry has been noticeably solo over the past several weeks during trips to Milan, London and elsewhere. See their most recent outings together.
"Not sure how long it will last this time but yes, it is off for now," one source explains to Us.
According to another confidante, Perry's massive upcoming Prismatic world tour was one of the sticking points for the twosome. "She's stressed about the tour, they've been fighting," the second source says. "It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever. Of course this happens all the time, I can't keep track anymore. But for now they are done."
Mayer's own recent tour also put a strain on the relationship. "They've had rough patches, but this may be for good," a third source adds.
The "Your Body Is a Wonderland" singer was Perry's first significant relationship after her painful late 2011 split from husband Russell Brand. Mayer, of course, has famously squired a coterie of A-list women: Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Love Hewitt, among others.
E! News was first to report news of the split.
