Kelly Clarkson on Body Confidence: “I’ve Never Been Super Concerned With How I Look”

Kelly Clarkson talked to BBC about the pressures of showbiz, saying she's "never been super concerned" with looks

Lots of people in Hollywood could learn a thing or two from Kelly Clarkson.

The "Heartbeat Song" crooner stopped by BBC Breakfast in Manchester, England, on Wednesday and talked about how she doesn't let the superficial pressures of the entertainment biz get to her.

"I don't think that stops at our industry, I think that's in general," she said regarding criticism of women's bodies in the music business. "And that's because the female form even back in the days the statues were of us. We're beautiful creatures. We're held in high esteem and so with that comes scrutiny."

Clarkson continued, "I don't know, I've always been confident in my talent and what I love to do, it's never really gotten me down. How I grew up, I've never been super concerned with [how I look]."

When asked about her "bolshy" temperament, she laughed. "I think we call that Texan. I've always been a confident person."

So what does keep Kelly up at night — aside from her 8-month-old daughter, River Rose?

"I'm always just worried that I've gotta sound great," she confessed. "I get destroyed if I suck somewhere. It destroys me for like, a week. If I have a bad show and then you're like, 'Oh God, they think I sound like that regularly.' That's when I really go down the rabbit hole."

We're guessing that doesn't happen very often to the American Idol winner.
