Lindsey Vonn Once Made Fun of Tiger Woods’ Cheating Scandal

Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods

Lindsey Vonn may have nothing but good things to say about Tiger Woods now, but three years ago, the Olympic gold medal-winning skier expressed a much less flattering opinion of her future boyfriend, who at the time was embroiled in an epic cheating scandal with then-wife Elin Nordegren. Joking at the golfer's expense during a 2010 interview with Time Magazine, Vonn seemed — in reporter Sean Gregory's words — "ingratiatingly anti-Woods."

Case in point? Upon being told that Woods hugged a few pals after finishing his now-infamous February 2010 press conference, Vonn quipped: "They're like, 'Yeah, you're awesome, you go have that sex.'"

Later in the day, she imagined a Saturday Night Live skit in which she would stand at a podium in front of a blue background — a la Woods — and confess to her own indiscretions. "There's something you don't know about me. Tiger, you're like my idol, and I too have a sex problem," she said in mock seriousness. "That would be freaking funny."

Vonn also took a dig at the golfer's inability to maintain his good-guy reputation. Asked how she would handle fame differently, she cracked, "Well, I'm married, so I don't have that problem. But, um, I guess [Woods] is married too." (At the time, the Olympian was wed to her ski coach, Thomas Vonn. They finalized their divorce earlier this year.)

The 28-year-old athlete has certainly changed her tune since then. On Monday, March 19, she finally broke her silence on her much speculated-about relationship with Woods and confirmed that they were dating. "Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy," she gushed on Facebook.

Added Woods, 37, in a separate statement: "This season has been great so far and I'm happy with my wins at Torrey and Doral. Something nice that's happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating."

The formerly undercover twosome are so close, in fact, that they decided to pose for joint portraits together. They released the professionally shot photos after announcing their relationship.

"He confessed everything in his past to her and stuff," a source told Us Weekly of the couple. "They're really into each other."
