DJ AM was one of the good guys. Mandy Moore fondly opened up about her late boyfriend via Instagram on Tuesday, June 23. The Philadelphia native was found dead at age 36 in his NYC apartment of an apparent drug overdose in August 2009.
“This guy. One of a kind. Been on my mind a lot lately….I can still hear your laugh and oh man, I miss your hugs more than anything,” Moore, 31, captioned a throwback snapshot of the entertainer. “Nearly 6 years and I’m still at a loss…#adam.”
The 47 Meters Down actress and DJ AM [real name: Adam Goldstein] split in March 2007 after two months of dating, but were friends for years. (Moore announced the end of her nearly six-year marriage to indie rocker Ryan Adams back in January. DJ AM also was engaged to Nicole Richie until their split in 2006.)
Last year, Moore also posted about DJ AM exactly five years after his tragic death. “Miss this sweet face and smile today and every day,” she wrote via Instagram. “Hard to believe it’s been 5 years since we all lost such a bright light. Thinking of those who knew and loved him and celebrating all of the undeniable goodness he brought to our lives. Xo.”
