Katherine Jackson is opening up to Oprah Winfrey about the death of her son, Michael Jackson.

In the clip above, Winfrey asks her if she ever confronted her son about longstanding addiction rumors.

She says she addressed the issue with him once.

"He denied it," she says. "I was telling him that I didn't want to hear one day that he had overdosed because it would break my heart. It would kill me.

"He kept saying, 'Mother, you don't believe me. My own my mother doesn't believe me,'" she recalls.

Jackson died unexpectedly in June 2009 of an overdose of propofol, a powerful anesthetic, which he had been using the drug to sleep as he prepared for "This Is It," his comeback tour.
