“When people say that, it makes me feel cool,” she said, of fans who avidly hope the former Office costars will get back together. “Like, oh, people are thinking about me like I’m a character. We are so different and we fight a lot, but the gift he [Novak] has always given me is the utter and total belief that I am one of the greats. And it is an intoxicating feeling.”

“Many of you asked about a book that my friend BJ and I are working on,” Kaling wrote to fans via Instagram in May. “I heard somewhere it was a tell-all which I actually found exciting, because that sounds sexy and I grew up looking like a little fat boy.”

The Mindy Project star didn’t detail what the book would be about, but told fans that it would definitely be “super cool and funny.”

“For now we are researching,” she added.

And though Kaling is currently single and focusing on her career — Hulu picked up her canceled Fox series earlier this year — the actress isn’t opposed to going on the occasional date.

“A nice, well-structured date — that’s one of the great joys in life,” she told The Guardian. “Like, an uncomplicated but focused series of two events that happens between 7 and 11 p.m.”
