He could have used an SOS! Nick Jonas has regrets about spending his teen years as a member of the Jonas Brothers, the pop star said in a new Tidal documentary about the making of his sophomore album, Last Year Was Complicated, which is dropping June 10.
In the first installment of the film, the “Jealous” crooner, 23, opened up about going to therapy following the 2013 breakup of the Jonas Brothers, the chart-topping band he started with older brothers Kevin and Joe in 2005.
“There were probably some family issues that needed to be sorted out,” Nick said of making music with his family. “At some point, I need to be able to look at it with a positive angle.”
Through counseling, the Disney Channel alum realized that working with his siblings at such a young age may not have been the best idea.
“It does suck that my 13-to 20-year-old years come with a lot of regret, almost, in a way,” he added.
In January 2015, the eldest JoBro, Kevin, shared his perspective on the trio’s disbanding.
“We were really lucky. Being a band that was able to tour, travel the world and make music that we love, and then be received well I think was great,” the dad of Alena Rose, 2, with wife Danielle, said during an interview with HuffPost Live. “At the end the friction was too much. We just really needed to break away and kind of do our own things for some time.”
Since calling it quits, the three Jonas Brothers have found new career paths: Nick as a solo artist, Joe as the lead singer of his new band, DNCE, and Kevin as a New Jersey real estate contractor.
