She might be feeling herself, but Nicki Minaj has no problem also gushing about the man in her life — Meek Mill. The chart-topping rapper, 32, and her emcee collaborator and real-life boyfriend, 28, got candid about their romance in a new interview with GQ.
So what does the "Truffle Butter" rapper like to do with her man? Kiss!
“Actually, I love kissing him,” she admitted to the magazine. “My favorite thing about Meek is kissing him, which is weird…it’s contagious because I used to be always asking him to kiss him when we first started talking. I love kissing him. I love the way his lips feel.”
Mill is into it, too, adding, “Yeah, and wouldn't you want to kiss Nicki Minaj too all day?”
The pair, who started dating back in February but who have been “talking" for more than a year now, recently toured together, which Minaj said went very smoothly.
“When we are working and we're not physically together, it just heightens that excitement for me to see him, because that's all I can think about is seeing him again,” she explained. “Now when we're on tour together it just feels like a dream come true. In so many ways.”
Though their courtship has been filled with over-the-top rumors, like giant “engagement” rings and Minaj calling Mill her “baby father,” they insist that they act like “any other couple in the hood.” A big relationship requirement for the recent VMAs performer was that her man didn’t try to change her personally or professionally.
“He always made me feel like he was okay with me being me,” she said. “As an artist and just as a woman. Obviously I'm a strong woman in a lot of ways… I'm not a strong woman in every way. I don't want to make it seem like I am some superhero because I'm not, but I do know that it takes a certain kind of guy.”
That guy was not Minaj’s ex Safaree Samuels, whom she dated for 11 years before calling it quits in 2014. Much of her hit album Pinkprint is about their failed relationship.
But not everyone was thrilled with Mill and Minaj as a couple. Though Mill said that none of his family or friends were concerned about their romance, Minaj noted that her mother, Carol, was cautious when approaching her daughter’s new relationship.
“She met him now, but she just wants to make sure he's a nice guy,” the former American Idol judge said. “She's overprotective of her daughter. Another thing people don't realize is I've only had three boyfriends in my whole life. This is a big step, because [my family has] only known one thing for over a decade.”
Mill remained tight-lipped when asked about the secret to his romantic success, simply noting, “I liked her. I felt her. I guess she felt me.”
