It's official: Halle Berry and boyfriend Gabriel Aubry are going their separate ways.

Following Friday's multiple reports of a split between the Oscar-winning actress and the French-Canadian male model, Aubry confirmed the news to Access Hollywood early Saturday.

"I am sad to say that Halle and I have decided together to separate at this time," Aubry's statement reads. "She is, and will forever be one of the most special and beautiful people that I have ever known, and I am certain that we will continue to have only love and respect for one another."

Berry, 43, and Aubry, 34, first met at a 2006 Versace photo shoot; they never wed. Their daughter Nahla was born in March 2008.

"We have been blessed with the most amazing daughter in the world," Aubry continues. "Her happiness and well-being are the most important thing for both of us. Please respect our privacy during this very difficult time."

TMZ had reported that the duo is currently working out a custody agreement for Nahla. "I will not comment on all of the wild inaccuracies being speculated about in the media," Berry's former beau explained simply.

On Thursday -- the night before the breakup news hit -- Berry made a cheerful solo appearance at the DKMS 4th Annual Gala: Linked Against Leukemia in NYC. She told UsMagazine.com that her daughter was "fantastic," and that she loved "everything" about being a mom.

In an interview last year with Essence, Berry gushed about her relationship, but wouldn't speculate how long it would last. "All I know is at this moment, it feels fantastic," she said.

Halle and Gabriel are both smoking hot. I bet their daughter will be gorgeous also! its sad whenever a couple is together for so long and ends up breaking up especially when theres children involved. (Only exception to that is if domestic violence is involved) Anyways i'm pretty sure that wasn't an issue with this couple but who knew what problems they really had behind closed doors. i know they weren't "married" but still it can be tough being with the same person for so long and times get rough sometimes.. I think its harder to actually stick it out and try to make things work. nothing worth having comes easy, ya know? but then again marriage is hard and by the looks of it being a celebrity is hard as well.i can only imagine that any marital probs you would have as a normal person would only be amplified if you were famous. so not sure what to think about their breakup..wish them the best and hope that for the child's sake they'd try to work it out. who knows? maybe they'll get back together later on?

Yes and same can be said about all the other relationships out there.. Thank god that they are like a lot of other parents who have to love for their child first..and for each other.. Sometimes the relationship does not work..if so it is better to break up aka Tom and Nicole Dennis and Meg and several others that have children when they left their relationships ..People do break up and they should be able to without the public sticking their noses into their business

Youaremyoniongirl...the question you posed Are either of them jewish? I have to wonder why it would matter. Why singling out the "jewish" faith. Why not use Muslim, or Catholic, or Buddist? So sick of "jewish" being thrown around in every situation....

Did it ever occur to anyone that sometimes you enter into relationships learning each other as you go and come together and determine that you may be wrong for each other...It doesn't mean that that is a bad thing and they seem to care and respect each other very much. ***Ms Cindy Ryan you sound like a hater, seek help I am sure there are some things that you do well too.

I'm so tired of these people (not just celebrities) getting together, having babies and then splitting up. Relationships are hard...work on it...you have a child!

  • May 01, 2010 - 2:19pm sad state of affairs

Sad representation of the lack of character people seem to have when it concerns personal relationships: the minute someone gets bored or sees a hint of something difficult, it's over. I do not presume for a second to know either Halle or Gabriel or anything about their personal relationship but in general - what is happening that people seem to break up and move on, esp when there are children involved. Relationships and marriages are supposed to take work and in order to make them successful you have to ride out the tough times as well as the fun and romantic times, que non?

    Get over it!!!

Looks can attract someone, but it takes a lot more to keep a relationship going strong...then, it's about the other things that matter like respect, values, priorities. From the beginning, this relationship was non-commital...what do you expect?

Too bad, they are such a beautiful couple and their daughter is going to be gorgeous! Poor Halle, she's had one bad relationship after another - I hope she figures it out so she can have a lasting healthy partnership for life@

  • May 01, 2010 - 1:07pm YouAreMyOnionFlowerGirl

"she is gorgeous". Is she really? I can't see it. I'm not gay or racist. It's just that when I look at her, I see nothing. Just blah.

  • May 01, 2010 - 12:53pm YouAreMyOnionFlowerGirl

How could this not fail? Interracial relationships have very high divorce rate, relationships where the woman earns considerably more than the male have huge failure rates and relationships where the woman is considerably older than the male also are notorious for lacking longevity (one of the most hyped yet failed of all human pairings). So thats 3 of the most failed types of relationships in one relationship. It could only be worse if it was interfaith relationship since those also have high failure rates. Are either of them jewish?

It takes alot more than beauty to make a loving relationship last. Halle cannot seem to make any of her relationships last. Maybe she should spend more time on learning how to recognize true love and less time on her hair,make-up, photo's and perfumes.

  • May 01, 2010 - 12:28pm Cindy Ryan

Halle of course as we all know is beautiful. But I wonder why she cannot make her relatinships last. It takes alot more than good looks to keep couples together. Maybe she should spend more time on her relatiionships and less time on her hair,make-up, perfumes, etc.

I am sorry I have to use this space for my comment, which has nothing to do with Halle Berry, but I didn't know where else I could do this. I'd like to thank and congratulate Hugh Heffner for saving the Hollywood sign!I never respected him, I always thought he was just an old rich man who could afford young, stupid, talentless women looking for easy money and fame. I still have that opinion, but I have to say that if it weren't for Heffner, the Hollywood sign would be gone. What a shame! So many actors and stars who actually are millionaires and they couldn't come up with one million dollars to save the symbol of film industry? I was in Hollywood last March and thinking that I could have been there and not see the sign, it would be very sad. I'm glad I was able to see it. At that moment I didn't know the sign was in danger of being removed by those developers. SHAME on all the actors in this country. How could you not do anything to prevent this from happening? It had to be the playboy owner to do something. Well, at least I learned to have some respect for Heffner. Thanks, Hugh!
