Always the same old love from her fans! Selena Gomez choked up and cried during the Montreal stop of her Revival Tour on Thursday, May 26, because she was so moved by her dedicated Selenators.
While performing her 2011 hit “Who Says” (off her album When the Sun Goes Down), the pop star got emotional when she realized audience members were holding up signs that said “We are worth it,” referencing the lyric, “Who says you’re not worth it?” from the track.
The 23-year-old songstress tried to sing the chorus of the inspirational tune, but she couldn’t get the words out. Instead, she let her fans take over, and the crowd knew every line to the song. Gomez, who was rocking a perfect messy braid and sheer blouse, watched in awe and wiped away her tears with the biggest smile on her face.
At the end of the song, the “Same Old Love” singer told the crowd: “Thank you guys for spending your night with me … Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or now, it’s just been such a crazy ride because you’ve seen me go through my ups and downs, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
The past few years have been tumultuous for the Disney alum, who dealt with lupus and a rocky, very public on-off relationship with her ex Justin Bieber. Back in October, Gomez explained why she went to rehab in 2014 in an interview with GQ and revealed she was undergoing chemotherapy for the chronic autoimmune disease and taking time to focus on her health. She famously dated the “Sorry” singer from 2011 to 2014 and has said she got her “heart broken” when they called it quits for good.
