A source confirms GossipCop's report that Jennifer Lopez has signed on to become a Season 10 judge on American Idol.

The news comes the same day that Ellen DeGeneres announced she has left the show after one season.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Lopez -- a 41-year-old mother of twins who previously served as a guest mentor to contestants in 2007 -- snagged the deal thanks to manager Benny Medina, who orchestrated a meeting with Idol producers about a month ago. Negotiations have been ongoing ever since, the site reported late Thursday.

The site also reports that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has been offered the spot to replace Simon Cowell, who left the show last season to headline an American version of The X-Factor

Fox has not officially announced any of the news.

J.Lo. and Steven Tyler? Those are horrible choices! J.Lo is trying to salvage her failing career with all those lousy movies of hers and Steven Tyler is so ugly and ancient just looking at him makes me nauseated. How's that gonna appeal to young viewers? Randy's a moron! The only word he knows is "dawg." Besides, no one will replace Simon. . . Bye bye, AI.

Hey you guys at Idol, what are you thinking? JLo should be disqualafied as a judge for her comment "about wanting to find the next Michael Jackson" she has already predjuiced herself because she's only going to be looking for skinny white/black kids with a HIGH pitched voice and drug addicts. She should be taken off the show immediately. Thanks, No Michael Fan!

IT'S AMAZING TO ME HOW OVERLY CRITICAL PEOPLE ARE BEING OF JLO, WHEN "PAULA ABDUL" WAS A JUDGE FOR 8 YEARS AND ELLEN (WHO IS A NON-MUSICIAN) WAS PRAISED!! LOL. NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LIKE PAULA AND ELLEN, BUT LETS BE HONEST, WHAT MAKES JLO ANY DIFFERENT, OR LESS QUALIFIED??? IF ANYTHING, JLO HAS WAY MORE EXPERIENCE IN THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT THAN ANY JUDGE AMERICAN IDOL HAS EVER HAD!! AND THAT'S NOT BIAS, THAT'S FACT.

This would come out perfectly! I love Jlo! She would be a great fit to bring it back! Good Job! All you haters are just jealous! You should go away!

  • August 02, 2010 - 11:22am Jennifer Lopez......once a ho, always a ho,,,,no talent idiot!

Oh noooooo.....She is already overexposed at it is. To be listening to her obnoxious accent on the show would definitely not be something I will be looking forward to. Its like nails on a chalkboard. Plus she is a jack of all trades and a master of none. Get her off the show immediately or you will be losing more than what they have already lost.

I like J-Lo, but nooooooo I want her ex Diddy to get the job. I think he'd be great; to the point, has musical talent, appeals to all cultures. Come on Simon, give another Millionare a shot, will ya?

This has-been will really kill the show, if that's even possible. First a gay, now a hispanic...this show so hard to be politically correct.

If this is true then I am for sure done with AI. Unless of course she will do a bounce on her butt like she did on the awards show, every week. ha ha ha

Hey.. give JLo & Tyler a fair shot. It couldnt be worse than Ellen. I just wish they would replace Randy too.

  • July 30, 2010 - 1:50pm IRENEV

I think Jennifer would be a fun addition to the show. But The Incredible Mr. Limpett???

  • July 30, 2010 - 1:49pm OregonJac

That does it. I only watched AI this year because of Casey James. I was one of the people that started AI parties in my home town. But these judge choices are wacked. Bret Michaels FTW

  • July 30, 2010 - 1:44pm Dorothy

I think JLo would be a good choice for a judge, because she does have experience in singing and dancing. She is multi-talented. You go girl!

  • July 30, 2010 - 1:06pm Qualified Women Nominees for AI Panel

TINA TURNER. CHRISSIE HYNDE. EMMY LOU HARRIS. JOAN JETT. ALLISON KRAUSE. JANET JACKSON.
