Stephanie March Is “Terribly Upset” By Bobby Flay Divorce Drama

Bobby Flay and Stephanie March
Bobby Flay and Stephanie March are going through an ugly divorce.

A bad situation is just getting worse. Bobby Flay filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years, Stephanie March, earlier this month, and the messy split is turning ugly.

Rumors began to swirl in the past two weeks that the celebrity chef, 50, was cheating on his wife for months if not years before their breakup. Flay vehemently denied the talk, and his rep told Us Weekly in a statement, "We will continue to refrain from responding to the continued efforts by certain parties to spread rumors and innuendo."

"This specific allegation was in a letter sent from one attorney in this case to the other," the statement continued. "It was written and then leaked specifically to try to insert this story into the press, and that’s unfortunate. Even more unfortunate is that all of this is being done in order to renegotiate a prenuptial agreement that was agreed to over a decade ago and never amended during the marriage."

While the legal team chose not to name said parties allegedly attempting to spread rumors and innuendo, there was speculation that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress March, 40, was attempting to get the upper hand in the divorce proceedings.

March's attorney, Deborah Lans of Cohen Clair Lans Greifer & Thorpe LLP, tells Us that this is not the case.

"Stephanie has worked through all of this to maintain her privacy and her dignity," she says of March, adding that the actress had surgery last week and is now living with her mother in New York as she recovers.

"Stephanie is terribly upset by what she has been reading in the paper," Lans adds of the divorce drama. "I would say that what Bobby's lawyer and his friends are saying is a combination of speculation and projection on their part."

"There are profound issues with the agreement that was signed at their wedding but we will deal with those in the court," the lawyer continues of the couple's prenuptial agreement. "I'm confident a court will consider the agreement to be unconscionable… Stephanie hopes people will respect her privacy and be sophisticated enough to read through what’s coming from the other side."
