A fundamental right for all people of the United States. The Supreme Court of the United States made a groundbreaking, historic ruling on Friday, June 26, that same-sex marriage is a legal right for all couples across all 50 states within the country.
The 5-4 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges was greeted by cheers from celebrities, dignitaries, lawmakers, and people not only within the country but around the world. "Today is a big step in our march toward equality," President Barack Obama tweeted on Friday. "Gay and lesbian couples now have the right to marry, just like anyone else. #LoveWins."
