1. She’s from South Dakota.

The vocal conservative talking head hails from Rapid City, South Dakota. According to The New York Times, she’s the only child of parents from ranching backgrounds, and there are several military veterans in her family. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2014 with a degree in broadcast journalism and political science.

2. She’s had her own show on two different networks.

When Lahren applied to an internship at One America News Network, she ended up with much, much more. “After our tour we went back to Robert Herring’s office. He asked me what I wanted to do. I told him I would literally ‘do whatever.’ I just wanted the opportunity,” she told the Rapid City Journal in 2014 of how she got her show On Point With Tomi Lahren. “He looked at me and said, ‘How about your own show.’ My jaw dropped. I was stunned. I just wanted an internship. He gave me a show.”

In 2015, she signed with The Blaze, the digital network founded by Glenn Beck. Her nightly show, Tomi, features her signature “Final Thoughts” monologue segments, where she chooses a timely topic and goes on a rant about her position. Recent topics have included the Dakota Access Pipeline, police shootings and Trump Tapes.

3. She was an informal adviser to Donald Trump.

In August, due to her massive online following, Lahren was brought on board to advise the president-elect’s campaign on its use of social media. She has more than 3.6 million followers on her Facebook page. The right-wing host even appeared in a Facebook Live video on Trump’s page in October.

4. She’s taken on the BeyHive.

Lahren has criticized Beyoncé and Colin Kaepernick, among others. She faced major backlash from the pop superstar’s fans after she blasted Beyoncé for paying tribute to the Black Panthers during her Super Bowl halftime performance of “Formation.” In another video that’s been watched more than 66 million times, she called Kaepernick disrespectful for kneeling during the national anthem. Many have said her remarks are racist, which she has vehemently denied.

5. She’s friendly with Trevor Noah after her Daily Show appearance.

In a now-viral clip from a recent episode, Noah and the conservative commentator engaged in a debate about racism, Black Lives Matter and how black people should protest. Despite their vastly different views, both took to Twitter to exchange cordial remarks after the segment. “I had a great time with @Trevornoah on @TheDailyShow and I respect our obvious differences but common goals,” Lahren tweeted, while the late-night host responded, “Thank you for being my guest Tomi. Our goal should be to destroy these ‘bubbles’ not each other. You’re always welcome on my show.”
