Horse whisperer! Turns out Bella Hadid is good at way more than walking runways and looking fabulous in print ads. The model hopes to throw her hat into the ring at the 2016 Olympics, competing in equestrian events.
That’s right, Gigi Hadid‘s sister, who has walked in countless fashion shows in New York, Milan, London, and Paris this past September (including Diane von Furstenberg, Moschino, and Balmain), rides horses and wants to take her passion to Rio in the upcoming international competition.
Hadid, 18, revealed that she’s ridden horses since she was 3 years old. “I have been riding since I could walk and the fact that my mom [Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster] knew everything about horses really helped my passion grow,” she told Porter magazine in their October equestrian fashion spread.
Not only is riding second-nature to the brunette beauty, it’s also a way for her to deal with life’s many stressors. “You know how every model is like, ‘I do yoga.’ Well, I find horses have the same effect,” she said. “You have to put your ego aside and concentrate on making the horse do the things you want it to do, and move the way you want it to move.”
Hadid has made a name for herself in the realm of equestrian events, winning awards and national rankings in the sport.
