Dingy kicks be gone!
Karlie Kloss has a simple solution for keeping her trainers just-out-of-the-box white — but you might not like it.
“I’m really into white sneakers … My secret to squeaky clean footwear is to rotate through a few pairs,” Kloss, 23, told Us Weekly while at the University of South Carolina helping students buy first-job–worthy shoes for the Karlie Kloss x Nordstrom’s Epic Shoe Party event on Monday, April 11. “I’m very proud of my sneaker collection.”
One brand in particular stocks her shelves. “I’m all about Adidas — either Stan Smiths or Superstar or Campus,” Kloss, who pairs her shoes with Frame Denim jeans, trenches and cozy sweatshirts, revealed. “They have so many good athleisure, chic but comfortable sneakers.”
But it’s not only footwear she’s buying in bulk. Multiples are her go-to way to keep clothes of any style looking sharp. “Whenever I find something, if it’s the perfect pair of shoes or the perfect skinny jeans, I’m the person that buys four of them to have on hand if I lose it or something happens,” she told Us.
Her strategy goes beyond lightweight hoarding; it has more to do with ensuring that she’ll feel good when she steps out of the door. “When you find a great pair of new jeans or great shoes — anything that gives you a little pep in your step, something you feel good in,” that’s when you feel the most confident, she said.
