Jennifer Garner made a welcome return to the red carpet August 6 at the Hollywood premiere of her new film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
Wearing a brick-red Lanvin dress, the 40-year-old actress accessorized her outfit with Neil Lane jewels. Garner shot the Walt Disney Pictures film prior to giving birth to her son, Samuel, in February 2012. (She and husband Ben Affleck, 39, are also parents to daughters Violet, 6, and Seraphina, 3.)
The Odd Life of Timothy Green tells the story of a couple (played by Garner and Joel Edgerton, 38) who are unable to conceive. One night, they bury their wishes for a baby in a box in their backyard, and the following day, they wake up to find a 10-year-old child, Timothy, on their doorstep.
"I have even more friends who've struggled with fertility since [the 2007 comedy] Juno, and if anything, I just brought an even deeper respect for the frustration and the heartbreak and everything they go through," Garner added. "I just try to do them right. That's all I hope -- that they see it and don't say, 'You were so off. I'm sorry.'"
Garner -- who flew solo on the red carpet -- brought her parents, Patricia and Bill, to the screening. "I've never made them come to a premiere and I said, 'This time, for this movie, you really have to come,'" the actress told Us. "'I really want to sit and watch it with you.'"
After a string of comedies, the former Alias actress is gunning to star in an action film. "I was working out with my trainer this morning -- she's trained me for 12 years -- and she was like, 'I think it's time. I think we need to put some pleather on,'" Garner said.
The Odd Life of Timothy Green is in theaters August 15.
