Joy Bryant is taking a break from high heels this fall!
The model and actress, 32, will be wearing moccasins, she tells Usmagazine.com.
"I'm not sure if it's 'trendy,' but I'm really excited about the handmade moccasins that my friend [designer] Leslie Crow is making me -- these leather moccasin boots," she told Us at the opening night of the Metropolitan Opera in NYC Monday. "I'm really excited!"
The flats she's eyeing aren't the moccasins of seasons' past. Crow -- a founder of Heyoka Leather, whose mission is to "leave no footprints behind our moccasins" -- sells custom-made pieces meant to be passed down for generations. The shoes are manufactured from recycled scrap leather and select deerskin.
Elsewhere, moccasins are now being sold as booties or platforms, come embellished with bows and beadwork and are available in vibrant colors, including fall's cobalt blue and red.
Still, the star admitted to Us she isn't up on the latest fashions.
"I don't really know what the trends are," she said. "I wasn't really paying attention!"
