Kim Kardashian Addresses Turkish Magazine Scandal

The cover girl wants to clear things up!

Kim Kardashian is no newcomer to magazine covers, but the 30-year-old reality star wasn't aware of one controversial cover that would be running this month. The well-known Armenian-American star's Cosmopolitan Magazine cover for its Turkish edition was published in April; in an unfortunate coincidence, April also marks the 96th anniversary of the Armenian genocide at the hands of the Turks.

On Monday, Kardashian addressed the controversy on her blog: "I just found out today that I am on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine in Turkey this month. Cosmopolitan Magazine has a number of international editions all around the world that run in various territories, and when I did this shoot for the international covers I had no idea that Turkey was planning to turn my story on their cover THIS month, considering Genocide Remembrance Day is this month."

"My Armenian heritage means a lot to me and I've been brought up to be incredibly proud of my family's background and culture," she continued. "So as an Armenian-American woman it is a huge honor for me to be on the first ever Armenian Cosmopolitan cover."

Kardashian added that she has "an amazing relationship" with the magazine. "World-over, Cosmo is known as a fun and inspiring magazine for women of all races, shapes, sizes, regardless of their political beliefs and I really hope that if I can bring awareness to the issue, then this is an accomplishment."

I think they are just pointing out how classless it is of Kim to get money off a cover in a country during the month where everyone remembers the mass genocide of her people. But again, people understand that with those Kardashian women, money comes first.

Why is this "scandalous"? Wouldn't it have been a bigger scandal if for some reason Turkey refused to put Kim on the cover because it was Genocide Rememberance Day this month? Come on US magazine, give us real news!!
