Model Maggie Rizer Is Engaged!

Maggie Rizer is engaged!
The former supermodel will say "I Do" to businessman Alex Mehran on Sept. 18 in upstate New York, she told UsMagazine.com at the HauteLook party in New York City Thursday.
"We're getting married on Lake Placid in the big foliage season. I grew up right near there," Rizer, 32, tells Us.

She wants her dress to be "very elegant, almost like Marni [or] Balenciaga feeling, but elegant, like couture. I want a very corset, fitted, gorgeous couture gown. Pop it in Lake Placid there!"
Mehran, 28, proposed on Rizer's birthday, Jan. 9. By the end of the day, she'd already "knocked out all the details" of their big day, she jokes.

"He was not happy. He was like, 'Can't we just enjoy it for a second?'" Rizer laughs.
The couple met 10 years ago through his sister and mutual friends, including model Karen Elson. But they didn't turn romantic until they had "an amazing date in Paris," Rizer explains.
Rizer was "in Paris doing couture... and he was studying in Bologna, because he's a few years younger than me," she says. "He brought me to this amazing restaurant that only he remembers the name of because of course, I was busy working and was like, 'You make the reservations.’”
But after their Eiffel Tower date, they fell out of touch. "I was dating somebody, or he was studying abroad. Then finally, three-and-a-half years ago, we got together," she says.

So what are the newly engaged plans for Valentine's Day?
"To make out," Rizer tells Us.
Rizer was last in the news for accusing her stepfather of embezzling millions of her modeling earnings -- leaving her $2 million in debt to the IRS. He was sent to jail shortly after.

1) Lake Placid is NOT "right near" Watertown 2) Whenever Maggie has done an interview she has always referred to her home as "Upstate NY" ...which, in MY opinion, leads you to believe she's not very proud of her roots. Fine. Watertown is not a thriving metropolis and Lake Placid is a much more beautiful venue for a wedding. I just don't understand the attack on Dani. Her comments were basically true.

I don't see why the attack on Dani- she's pretty much correct in all of her statements. Lake Placid is not "right near" Watertown. I also live locally and can drive to Pennsylvania in a day, but I wouldn't say I gew up "right near" there. Maggie is obviously not proud of where she was raised, and that's fine. Watertown is certainly not a thriving metropolis; Lake Placid IS a much more beautiful venue for a wedding. Maggie has had many interviews where she refers to home as "upstate NY", thus enforcing MY opinion that she's not all that proud of her roots. Oh well. Supermodel status may do that to some.
Oh and one more thing, the owner of the Pizza Shack never pressed charges.
Settle down Dani. Mapquest may say it takes 3 hours 15 mins to get from Watertown to Lake Placid but it generally takes less time than that... it's close enough to say she grew up near there. As for the trash dumping, the dumpster in question wasn't in Watertown, it was the Pizza Shack in Sackets Harbor. Lo and behold Sackets is right on Lake Ontario and also happens to be where Maggie has her summer retreat. I guess one part of that was correct though. She is from Watertown and her parents do still live there.
Butt ugly? Seriously? Maybe she doesn't look typical or conventionally pretty in the photo pictured here, but she is one the most talented and accomplished super models in the industry. She knows how to rock a photo- just google her.

3 hrs and 15 min is not a short drive nor is Lake Pacid right near where she grew up. It is in the area but so is Albany and New York City all of which you can drive in one day. Amanda why the correction to Dani's statement? Seems she wasn't far off with any of what she said. I doubt she grew up at her summer home, so that is totally irrelevant. Imma hilarious comment as I too thought that was a Geico Caveman, they could be twins. I think they are fitting for each other, both are homely. Yes she is a SUPER model, tall and thin can get you far in life. And Kate she didn't say "right near my summer home" so get your facts straight when correcting someone else.

Dani- Just so you know Lake Placid is only a 3 and 15 min drive from Watertown. People do that trip in one day. I dont think she minds having her Wedding there. Its so beautiful there and much better then Watertown.

Right near Lake Placid! LMAO! She is from my town Watertown,Ny! Which is quite the drive to Lake Placid! When she was home here a few years ago she was arrested for dumping her trash in a businesses dumpster..apperently she told the press she was at her vacation home, HA! She was staying on Coffeen St. which is in the middle of our small city no where near lake ontario try Black river! Just one bullchit lie after another with this girl. Own it Maggie!

I will never understand females. My last girlfriend made me shave my mustache off (and I did it because I use to be overly p=ssywhipped instead of just dumping her finding a chick who didnt mind a 'stache)....but this guy gets to be all gruff like a real man. See, its all in the chick you choose. But... I dont miss the mustache anyways. I hated shaping it. I wasnt artsy enought to make it look like my dads.
