Who needs toys? Katie Holmes' four-year-old daughter Suri Cruise has a more mature taste.

PHOTOS: Inside Suri's super charmed life

During a day out in Vancouver Wednesday -- where Holmes' husband Tom Cruise, 48, is filming Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol -- the actress took her toddler shopping at the cities' Holt Renfrew (the same spot where Suri tried on high heels).

Along with testing out lipsticks on her hand, the tot "tried on different shades of nail polish," an insider tells UsMagazine.com. "Katie ended up buying a few for her."

And the beauty products weren't the only things Holmes, 32, treated her daughter to.

While the twosome were at a local Starbucks, "Suri started to have a tantrum," the source says. "Katie told her if she stopped, she'd get a cookie. Suri stopped right away!"

It kinda upsets me a bit how they are always showing Suri but they rarely recognize her brother and sister (yes she does have siblings) just because they are adopted. I think Suri is going to grow up too fast, that's my opinion. Yeah, we all played in our MOM's make-up but how many of us can honestly say our parents went out and bought us a REAL Sephora or MAC make-up kit at 4yrs old? Mine sure didn't and if I did wear any, it was lightly colored.

Nothing wrong with playing with old lipstick, heels, etc. Poor kid has to throw a tantrum because she feels very out of control with no discipline. I have nothing against a four-year-old, but I DETEST tom Cruise--he's a controlling, abused abuser. yuck!

She is beautiful and has better fashion sense than her parents. What little girl doesn't love to play with makeup and dress fancy? I think it's sweet. Both parents are grounded for being bazillionaires, so I'm sure she will turn out just fine.

She's a lovely little girl. She has no siblings, so if this is how she "fantasizes" and plays..fine.

it is normal for children to wear their mothers' lipsticks and high heels sometimes; but abnormal for Mothers take their 4 year olds lipstic and high heels shopping.

Most little girls like playing in makeup! Pretty sure the kids I babysit for received a makeup kit when they were 7. THIS IS NORMAL! STOP BEING SO MEAN just because they are celebrities!

I'm a mother of a little girl.... my daughter is 5 y/o and she has been wearing my lipsticks, my high heels, my dresses,... everything she likes so I do not understand all these negative comments, serious?? People should focus more on their kids then they realize how normal Suri is. I'm still holding my daughter and she DOES walk. Why noone care when it's happened to "common, normal, non famous people" but when all these ridiculous matters happen to celebrities.... PEOPLE have to get on to it like it's such a big deal. Get real people, it's not a big deal... Suri is being a little girl.... I was like that when I was little, my daughter is like that now... y'all know why? Because just like Suri, my daughter and I, we are both very GIRLY!!

What kid doesn't do this? I wore my grandma's earrings, high heels, LIPSTICK, and the like. This is only controversial because people like to hate on this family. It's ridiculous.

    She's so adorable!

Is Katie Holmes kidding me? Taking your kid out shopping for lipstick & nail polishes @ 4 yrs old. Shouldn't she be out shopping for dolls more age appropriate toys. Suri will have nothing to look forward to when she's older. What a shame. I've seen Suri in heels too. Also inappropriate for her age. Suri had to be bribed with a cookie to shutup in a coffee joint. Katie should have taken her out of the store & told her if she didn't stop screaming she would be punished. But no give into her & raise her to be a spoiled brat. That is exactly what Katie's doing to Suri. Katie obviously doesn't say no to her or discipline her very much. Giving into your child isn't going to teach them manners & respect. Must not be important to Katie. Maybe Suri will learn manners & respect when she gets older. I hope she does.

Adorable! Not sure why this is "News" but whatever... To those who do nothing but spew negativity toward this family, please give it a rest. They're doing their best with their kids, just like everybody else, except they have greater means. But this also means that everyone is watching them like a hawk all the time, and everyone is ready to pounce on them for every little thing that they do. "Oh no, she's drinking out of a sippy cup!" "Oh no, her mom is carrying her!" "Oh no, she's trying on her mom's shoes!" "Oh no, she's being rewarded with a cookie for stopping her tantrum!" Every mother, including myself, has likely experienced one if not all of the above with their own children. I for one praise Katie Holmes and other celebrity moms like her who set a great example by keeping their children with them as they go about their lives.

Beautiful, and very feminine little girl.

@Shannon, I never noticed your constant negativity until it was pointed out in another article... "Sure should try walking" --- is this a joke? She does walk...what an idiotic comment

  • February 03, 2011 - 7:36pm Filomena Araujo

Too bad they haven't come out with POOP Flavored lipstick.

  • February 03, 2011 - 7:14pm Shannon Burmatoff

    Suri should try walking first
