What better way to get over a hump day than to gaze upon Ryan Gosling in a tuxedo at the Cannes Film Festival.

At the premiere of his directorial debut, Lost River, (and first major red carpet appearance in more than a year) on May 20, Gosling, 33, looked dapper as ever in a navy Gucci tuxedo. The Notebook star opted out of a tie and instead wore the navy shawl collar jacket with an open white evening shirt and black patent leather lace-ups to the event.

Gosling kept his short-cut blonde hair minimally styled and rocked facial scruff.

Christina Hendricks, who stars in Lost River alongside Gosling, Saoirse Ronan and Eva Mendes (Gosling's girlfriend), also stuck to neutral colors. The Mad Men beauty, who also costarred with Gosling in 2011's Drive, played up her curves in an Alberta Ferretti gown with a sheer illusion, embroidered bodice.
