The One Tree Hill alum, 31, models a smokey eye and various sexy outfits, including one with handcuffs(!), in the accompanying spread. Bush noted how her onscreen transformation -- since playing the independent Brooke Davis on the WB (and later CW) series, which ended after nine seasons in 2012 -- was part of her personal journey.
"Well, it's funny. It's not often that someone gets a job at 20 and then does it for a decade," she said of her breakout role on One Tree Hill. "Those are the years you're supposed to be growing and exploring new things…" explained the star, who was briefly married to One Tree Hill costar Chad Michael Murray back in 2005.
"But this show? It feels like the job I was supposed to be doing," Bush added of her butt-kicking character on Chicago PD. On the NBC series, the actress plays Detective Erin Lindsay, a former confidential informant, and like Us, she's done her research! "I did spend my Super Bowl Sunday watching a True Detective marathon on HBO," she told Maxim.
Now in her thirties, the social media-savvy star, with nearly 1 million followers on Twitter, has been using her celebrity to promote causes close to her heart. "I realized I could have a dinner party conversation with 15 people, and I could use Twitter to have that same conversation with a million," the USC grad noted to the mag.
And it helps that she's dating someone who shares those interests! As previously reported by Us Weekly, Bush has been dating tech executive and fellow activist Dan Fredinburg since January 2013. A pal close to Bush told Us the pretty actress has bonded with the Google program manager over social activism. "They're both so passionate about the world," the insider told Us last May.
