Stylists Love Ashlee Simpson's "Grown Up" New 'Do
A leopard can't change its spots, but Ashlee Simpson, 26, sure can change her locks.
Just days after husband Pete Wentz, 31, posted a picture of Simpson's new 'do on Twitter, Simpson made her debut in NYC. The cropped cut and blonde locks mark a drastic change from the longer, darker look she recently had.
Although the singer is definitely not afraid of change (at least when it comes to her hair), is the new look the best color and style for her? Experts tend to agree.
"The long, side swept bang frames her face really nicely," says James Viddes, a stylist at Sally Hershberger Downtown salon in NYC. "The length is fresh and easy to manage, especially important when you're a busy mother."
Simpson's new lighter color is actually a return to her natural blonde strands. "The dark brown was a bit too harsh on her fair skin," says Nikki Ferrara, a colorist at Sally Hershberger Downtown. "Blonde is more complimentary."
The final verdict: "This is a grown up look for her," says Viddes, who has styled Kate Winslet and Natalie Portman.
Wentz, 31, also approves. After posting the pic, he tweeted, "Cute hair mama!"
