It was the most glamorous red carpet event since the Oscars and the celebrities dressed accordingly when they descended on Washington, D.C. at Saturday's White House Correspondents Association Dinner.

Kate Hudson wore the night's most dazzling look, stepping out in a purple sequined Jenny Packham gown with embellished cuffs. She accessorized the sparkly design with a sleek Edie Parker clutch and elegant high bun.

Also turning heads was third-time mom-to-be Reese Witherspoon, who concealed her growing bump with a black draped Monique Lhuillier gown with stunning blue Irene Neuwirth drop earrings.

Charlize Theron wowed in a black long-sleeve Emilio Pucci look layered with nude lining, Manolo Blanhik heels and a Judith Leiber clutch.

After rocking several fashion-forward looks during the recent Hunger Games promo tour, Elizabeth Banks continued her style streak in a vibrant red Antonio Berardi strapless gown with on-trend peplum skirt.

Another star who embraced color was Scandal's Kerry Washington, who chose a bright coral long-sleeve V-neck Calvin Klein dress.

Eva Longoria opted for a white brocade cocktail dress by Marchesa with a high collar and structured skirt. She paired the look with back Brian Atwood pumps and a sophisticated updo.

Some of the A-list attendees who didn't quite achieve red carpet perfection: Ginnifer Goodwin in a voluminous ivory ruffled H&M Red Carpet Conscious Collection creation, Rosario Dawson, who flashed way too much cleavage for the conservative affair in her metallic green Zac Posen gown and Lindsay Lohan in a safe-yet-lackluster plunging black dress.
