Adele's sold-out North American concert tour has hit a low note.
The 23-year-old British singer has been forced to cancel nine live shows as she recovers from a nasty bout of laryngitis.
Under the advisement of an Otolaryngology specialist, the singer has been instructed to go on complete vocal rest as she recovers over the next few weeks.
"I'm really frustrated. I was hoping with a weeks rest I'd be better to sing again straight away," Adele says in a message posted on her Web site Friday. "However, there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctors advice and rest some more.
Friday's announcement comes less than a week after the "Rolling in the Deep" songstress postponed five previous tour stops.
Adele -- whose 21 album trumped Lady Gaga's Fame as the biggest-selling digital album in the U.K. -- is looking into rescheduling the missed tour dates.
