Allison Iraheta: Idol Will "Do Well" Without Simon Cowell

Can American Idol survive without Simon Cowell next year?
Season 8 finalist Allison Iraheta thinks so.
"Idol has been around for so long and it has its own following," Iraheta, 17, told UsMagazine.com Saturday at the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala in Los Angeles. Cowell announced last month he's leaving the Fox hit after nine seasons to focus on bringing his British show, X Factor, to the states.

"It's not only about the judges. There are awesome contestants," she continued. "I'm not just saying that because I was a contestant! But I think it's going to do well."

The rocker, who released her first album, Just Like You, last December, says she thinks Ellen DeGeneres will be a good replacement for Paula Abdul.

DeGeneres debuts as a judge Feb. 9 during Hollywood Week.

14I agree with Allison for the most part. Will Simon be missed? Absolutely! However, American Idol will still thrive. Allison is right, it's about the contestants & the compitition, not the judges. Also, Allison's cd is AWESOME! It is the best debut cd I've heard from any past or present American Idol contestant. And yes, that includes Adam & Kris. I'm serious!

Oh Allison, how do I miss seeing YOU in my tv screen every week. At least I got your fantastic album that I can play daily on my way to work and you're absolutely right, it's not about the judges, as much as the judges would like to think so.

Scars is now #3 -- her Album Just Like You is very good indeed. On Simon- he's going to do his own version of AI i.e. X-Factor. I personally thought he was getting dull.
She's right. People don't watch the show and vote like crazy because of Simon or any of the judges. It's because of the contestants. So they'll still watch. And I also agree with Dii, Idol won't be the same without Allison. She is Amazing!
Allison is right. The show is bigger than any one judge. I felt AI would survive Paula leaving, so it will with Simon. Now go out and buy Allison's awesome debut album. It ROCKS!
