Exclusive: Bachelor Couple Byron Velvick, Mary Delgado Split

Another Bachelor couple bites the dust.
After five years together, Season 6 Bachelor Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado have split, he confirms to Usmagazine.com.

The couple got engaged on the show's November 2004 finale. (He proposed to the Cuban-born star in Spanish so her parents -- who were watching -- could understand what was happening.)
Velvick, 45, and Delgado first showed signs of a trouble the night after they appeared on a Bachelor reunion episode in November 2007 when she was arrested for assaulting her fiance.

According to authorities, she punched Velvick in the mouth and was under the influence of alcohol when she was arrested.

Shortly after the incident, Velvick maintained that they were still happily together.
"Just because you met on a reality show, got engaged on this beautiful incredible setting doesn't mean that we're Prince Charming or Beautiful Princess," he had said. "It's nothing like that. It's just a real couple going through real things."

Mary Delgado spit in the face of many people in Tampa. She was after fame and fortune. In order to not look like an absolute gold digger, she constantly talked about wanting a kid. Well, Mary didn't get a marriage, she didn't get a kid and she didn't get a fortune of money. What she did get was a bunch of negative press, which is ironic, considering she was so proud about being on TV.

I thought she was crazy as he// on the first show, then she turned up on the second one and was chosen! I couldn't believe it. This is no surprise - she's a whack job and he must be, too, since he chose her. Too bad that now they'll be preying on other innocent souls.

It's about time. Some bozo called Mary classy. What nonsense. She has no class. She's a street girl who only knows how to use her fists. If she wasn't happy, she should have talked to him about it or left him. Lashing out physically at Byron shows that if she didn't grow up on the streets, then she acts like she did. It's about time he dumped her. Nobody's perfect but she's no good. You can't talk through any difficulty when one party brutalizes instead of communicating.

Byron is a SELFISH scared Guy, not ready to commit. She supported him 5 years waiting patiently while he was enjoying his TV/fishing fame.. He like her but was afraid to commit especially after his divorce. She waited enough -she wants to marry , have kids and family , hoping he would be ready some day. He's enjoying this freedom way too much and will be lonely with no true soulmate to share his rest of his midlife.
It's a shame. I liked them both as couple, but Mary did get very crazy after a while.

Alcohol comes from frustration caused by lack of understanding from person she loves.

Mary is not an alcoholic never has been, the girl has never even done drugs. Look at the whole picture. What is going on with Tiger and his wife is very similar to what Byron has done throughout the relationship. In middle of September--he broke her heart! Interesting how a week after break-up, Byron has a girlfriend. How nice and wonderful do you think he is now LADIES? I am so sure that Byron is not the innocent guy he portrays himself to be. No big surprise. She's been in and out of jail for assault on him for years now. They've been engaged for HOW many years??? He won't marry her. No big surprise. She has serious rage issues, and that's why she can't find a man to marry her at 40-whatever years old she is now. I'm glad he got out of this, because I think he is being physically abused by her and he needs to move on. This story offers hope, in that he is choosing freedom over being with a whacked out chick!
From a very close friend to both Byron and Mary who knows the truth, it is so sad how people reach such false conclusions about them, in particular Mary. They are both wonderful people and while they did break up it was not for any of the reasons that are being published.
