Be our guest! The first official trailer for Beauty and the Beast is here, and it’s completely magical.
Disney released the two-minute teaser for the highly anticipated live-action version of the 1991 animated classic on Monday, November 14. The film stars Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast, and the new clip offers the first glimpse of Belle entering the castle in search of her father, Maurice, and encountering the Beast.
It also includes several other memorable moments from the original: Maurice’s capture, Belle dancing with the Beast in the ballroom and the heroine discovering that some of the castle’s objects can talk. The trailer shows Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts the teapot, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth the clock and Ewan McGregor as Lumiere the candlestick. They speculate whether Belle will be the one who finally breaks the spell on the Beast and his castle.
The Harry Potter actress, 26, looks stunning in the character’s signature yellow ball gown, but she’s ditching the yellow gloves and corset for a more modern take, Entertainment Weekly revealed earlier this month. Another switch from the ’90s film is that Belle will be the inventor instead of Maurice.
