Beyonce Scores Sixth No. 1 Album With ‘Lemonade’

She did it again! Beyoncé officially scored her sixth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with her latest LP, Lemonade.

Lemonade earned 653,000 equivalent album units (485,000 of which were pure album sales, while the remaining units were attributed to streams), according to Billboard.

All six of the “Formation” singer’s projects — including her debut album, Dangerously In Love, and her 2013 self-titled surprise visual album — have hit No. 1, making her the only artist to do so with their first six studio albums.

Lemonade was released on Saturday, April 23, shortly after its accompanying film debuted on HBO. The 12-track visual album initially dropped on Tidal but has since been released on iTunes. The physical CD/DVD will be available on Friday, May 6.

The LP scored the biggest week of any album so far in 2016 but will likely be topped next week by Drake’s fourth studio album, Views, which was released exclusively on Apple Music and iTunes on Friday, April 29. The Toronto rapper announced on Friday that Views sold an astounding 630,000 copies in the first day of its release.

Beyoncé, who kicked off the Formation World Tour earlier this week, nearly broke the internet after she dropped Lemonade. The disc includes several tracks — particularly “Sorry” — about a woman scorned by an adulterous lover, possibly an autobiographical reference to her marriage to Jay Z.

The Beyhive promptly accused several celebrities of being “Becky with the good hair,” the mistress referenced in “Sorry.” Since the album’s release, the internet has speculated that the woman could be fashion designer Rachel Roy, Rita Ora, Rihanna or video vixen Karrine Steffans.
