Carrie Underwood is coming to the small screen this holiday season.
The fourth American Idol winner headlines her first variety television special Dec. 7 -- performing material from her upcoming album Play On, plus earlier hits and holiday songs.
Joining the Grammy-winning country star? Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley and fellow Idol David Cook, according to a statement released to Usmagazine.com. The spectacular will be co-directed by So You Think You Can Dance's Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman.
Although Play On won't be released until Nov. 3, Underwood, 26, is already having a blockbuster year: the album's debut single "Cowboy Casanova" is country-music's fastest rising hit of 2009 and the year's only country digital single to sell more than 100,000 copies in its first week.
The two-hour special airs Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
