Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Starring in Film Musical: Details

Start spreading the news! Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are attached to star in an upcoming musical comedy film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Universal beat out competing studios for the project, which is based on an original idea by Gordon-Levitt and Michael Bacall. Details are scant, but the film is said to be an R-rated adventure about two pilots.

Wicked producer Marc Platt is behind the film, and Gordon-Levitt's company HitRECord Films will also produce. Bacall — who wrote the 21 Jump Street films, in which Tatum starred — will write the script. There is no word yet on when production would begin.

Tatum's affinity for singing and dancing has never been a secret, as the 35-year-old actor got his start in Step Up before starring in the Magic Mike films and this weekend's Hail, Caesar!, in which he tap dances and belts out a tune.

Gordon-Levitt, 34, who most recently appeared in last year's holiday-themed The Night Before, performed a Magic Mike tribute in his monologue when he hosted Saturday Night Live in September 2012. He has also showcased his impressive lip-synching skills on The Tonight Show and Lip Sync Battle.
