Phoebe Buffay's got some competition! Folk-pop singer Colbie Caillat gave Lisa Kudrow's Friends character a run for her money on Saturday, Oct. 4, when she performed her own rendition of Buffay's signature song "Smelly Cat."
Caillat, 29, sang the fun ditty at the New York City pop-up shop of Central Perk, the beloved Friends coffee stop. The cafe was opened last month in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the show.
The "Just Like That" singer took over Buffay's turf on the stage at Central Perk. With her blonde hair pulled half-back, Caillat went casual in a white blouse, scarf, and skinny jeans for the surprise performance.
Standing at the mic in front of a TV airing episodes of Friends, Caillat asked the gathered crowd, "Will you sing it with me?"
Once the Friends fanatics agreed, the "Bubbly" performer belted, "Smelly cat, smelly cat / What are they feeding you? / Smelly cat, smelly cat / It's not your fault!"
Caillat took to Twitter after the fun show to express her excitement about the opportunity. "That was COOL!" she wrote. "Singin @ #centralperk Sittin on the actual couch My favorite show ever."
