Contagion Tops Weekend Box Office

Contagion earned an estimated $20 to $22 million in its opening weekend at the box office, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The action-thriller -- starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, Jude Law and Kate Winslet -- focuses on a team of doctors trying to stop the outbreak of a deadly disease.

So just who went to see Contagion? According to the site, more than 80 percent of the film's audience was over the age of 25.

The Help -- starring Emma Stone -- came in second place at the box office, while the mixed martial arts drama Warrior came in third, with a lower-than expected weekend opening of $5.5 million. The comedy Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star earned a mere $540,000 on Friday night.
