Hugh Jackman Announces His Final Wolverine Role in the Coolest Way: Pic

Hugh Jackman announced he is currently filming his final role as Wolverine on March 28.

The time has come to say goodbye to Logan and his intense muttonchops. Hugh Jackman announced on Instagram that he will be turning in his metal claws after one more movie.

“WOLVERINE …ONE LAST TIME. HJ,” he captioned the shot of his two fists resting on the table with three of Wolverine’s signature metal claws sticking out of his knuckles.

Jackman, 46, has gone back and forth as to whether or not he would continue with the X-Men franchise, having starred in five of the superhero movies and two solo Wolverine films.

He has been linked to both 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse and an untitled solo Wolverine project that’s set to come out in 2017. So if his Instagram caption is to be taken literally, one of those films won’t feature everyone’s favorite bad guy-slashing anti-hero.

Jackman isn’t the first to exit the longtime franchise. Jennifer Lawrence confirmed that Apocalypse will be her final film as the shape-shifting Mystique, after she replaced Rebecca Romijn in 2011’s X-Men: First Class.

There has also been talk of recasting Halle Berry‘s Storm, James Marsden‘s Cyclops, and Famke Janssen‘s Jean.
